Simcoe County Quilters' Guild
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
Our Story
The guild began in January 1984 with 18 founding members. These women wanted to establish a group that would promote quality in quilting and to also expand their skills. From that simple beginning, the guild has grown steadily.
Our membership has a broad base of novice and experienced quilters, who enjoy working in traditional and contemporary designs, using either hand or machine applications. We study a variety of techniques, both old and new, from simple to challenging. We are always eager to hear speakers discuss current trends and new techniques.
We are also active members of our communities. As a guild we have supported a number of worthy causes from Women and Children's Crisis Centers, lap robes for Seniors homes, Seasons Centre for the Grieving Children to our Cuddle Quilt program that is run in conjunction with the various police and fire departments in Simcoe County.
While some of us only produce one or two pieces a years, others are constantly working on their creations. All of us recognize the beauty of this art form and like to share our enthusiasm and expertise.
